Most white turkeys are reared in barns; however, our turkeys are all genuinely free-range and are raised on natural, cereal-based diets to ensure superior quality over store-bought birds. John Howe’s family-run farm in Tenterden is passionate about the welfare of the turkeys, and we never include antibiotics or growth promoters. We slow-grow our white turkeys over the course of 6 months to ensure their proper well-being and their full-flavoured taste when they’re ready for serving at Christmas. After 6 months, they reach full maturity and are then hand-plucked by our farmers to avoid the reduced quality of the meat that you get from wet plucking. After plucking, our turkeys are hung for a minimum of two weeks in a temperature-controlled room so they are in perfect condition when they reach your doorstep.
